In 2006, the Frankfurt Book Fair startet a new thematical focus on education. As the world largest event on books and media the Frankfurt Book Fair assumes its responsibility for education and media competence and thus founded together with its cooperation partners UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning and the Bundesverband Alphabetisierung und Grundbildung e.V. the Frankfurt Book Fair Literacy Campaign. Since spring 2010 LitCam operates as an independent non-profit organisation.

LitCam lobbies for educational equality. We realise own projects supporting disadvantaged children. In Germany we we focus on our projects "Football Meets Culture" which offer children a combination of football, supporting classes (mainly improving their German) and culture. In 2015 we started the book sector's initiative for refugees: "Books Say Welcome". Furthermore we organise conferences on various educational topics.
At the Frankfurt Book Fair you find us in our LitCam area where we host numerous events on our stage and present a Football media exhibition. And for the first time in 2014 we awarded the "LitCam Lese-Kicker", the prize for the best children football book.

All our work is based on our claim: Competence for life!
